Tools for Makers

Every tool here solves a problem someone actually had, usually me. They are free, open-source, and run in your browser — no accounts, no subscriptions, and nothing to install.

What the categories mean

Financial tools deal with money and time: what your hour is really worth after tax and commute, whether a job offer is better than it looks, when doing a thing yourself beats paying someone. Creative tools make or transform artwork. Maker tools drive physical hardware — sand tables, CNC machines, printers — and mostly involve turning a picture into coordinates a machine understands. Lifestyle tools cover decisions that are neither purely financial nor purely creative, like sizing a tattoo. Utility is everything that resists a tidier label.

What they all have in common

Nothing is uploaded. Files you open and numbers you type are processed by JavaScript in your own tab. For most tools here there is no server involved at all, which makes the privacy claim structural rather than a promise.

No accounts, ever. Nothing is gated behind a sign-up, and there is no saved-state-in-the-cloud feature that would require one. Where a tool remembers your settings, it remembers them locally.

The whole tool is the free tier. There is no upgrade path, because there is no paid version. Hosting is covered by advertising.

The ☁ cloud-assisted badge

A few tools cannot run entirely in the browser — generating text with a language model, for instance, requires a key that cannot safely be shipped to visitors. Those tools carry a ☁ Cloud-assisted badge on their card, and each one has its own privacy page describing exactly what gets sent, what is stored, and in what form. The badge is there so the distinction is visible before you use the tool rather than buried afterwards. Everything without a badge stays on your device.

Each card below links straight into the tool — there is no landing page to get past. Most have their own FAQ and articles explaining how they work and where their limits are.
